Play Ball! Members Preview
March 28 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Members are invited to a sneak peak of our special exhibit, “Play Ball!”. Join us on Thursday, March 28 for an insider’s look at our new exhibit on the history of regional baseball before it opens to the public.
We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate baseball, spring and the history of the men and women who shaped our great American past time right here in our region.
The special exhibit, which opens Saturday, March 30, drives home baseball’s story with oral histories, research on local African American teams, 1930s-vintage uniforms, a ball, cleats and glove, and photos of the Rockford Peaches, the mid-century women’s baseball team featured in the movie “A League of Their Own.” All these exhibit pieces pitch a story about how we have played, watched, agonized over and cheered “America’s Pastime” in the Galena area.
The Galena & U.S. Grant Museum is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Regular admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $8 for youth ages 10-18 and free for those under the age of 10.
